Are you ready for the New Year?  Let’s back to simple, basic action steps to make the new year one that you jump out of bed excited about!  We want this plan to be be fun, soulful, and (relatively) easy to accomplish.I used to be the poster child for being stressed-out and spinning my wheels.  It was not until I believed and actually implemented these 10 things that I started to stand in my own power in business while staying true to my values and goals. I hope that you find the time to implement some of these ideas so that you can move swiftly forward in the New Year!

Key #1: The Nature of StressHow to eliminate the stress right away…Stress is a natural part of your biological system.  It comes from a release of cortisol that has in your past served you very well…from being eaten by a tiger!  In today’s world, that same biological response to stress that makes you Fight, Flee, or Freeze looks more like Frustration, Spacing out, or Procrastinating.  These are behaviors that really don’t serve your success very well, so finding elixer is first a matter of STOPPING when you start to get agitated.  And then what?  BREATHE!  Three deep breaths in and out, letting go each time with an AH.  Here we go, Breathe in….and Breathe out;  Breathe in…..and Breathe out.  One more time, Breathe in…and Breathe out.  Feel better?  A little bit?  Now quiet your mind and really listen to where in your body you are feeling the anxiety.  Let go…

Key #2: Finding TimeHow to find more time in your day when there isn’t any… There is one thing that everybody has, and that is 24 hours in the day.  It is completely up to you how you use it.  You can either float around like a butterfly doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that and never alighting on the projects that really matter, or you can focus on the high priority and get it done.    For this Key you will do two things.  The first is to close your eyes and say to yourself “Time expands for me”.  The second is to write down just 6 things you would like to accomplish today ON A PIECE OF PAPER  and then decide which ones are vitally important.  There may be only one vitally important one.   Do that first.  The most important task is usually the one you procrastinate on, so stop all distractions, feel the discomfort, but commit to doing it. (Remember to put self-care on your list too, like taking a walk, doing yoga, eating a smoothy.  It all counts!)

Key #3: Creating SpaceBringing ease, presence and beauty into your environment This one is little harder to accomplish, because it takes some work and some commitment to re-organize, and we all seem to have trouble with this.  Ask yourself, what do you want to get clear on?  Where could you put some loving attention toward creating beauty and simplicity in your environment?   Your desk, your clothes closets, your garage?  Creating a clean, quiet, beautiful space does wonders for clearing your mind and heart.  This may not have been a task that you have been able to master in years, maybe decades. For now, look around your space, and choose just one thing to organize.  It may be as simple as putting a few papers in the proper file, or collecting the numerous notes that are scattered on your desk.  Later you can spend real time getting a better organizing system, but remember these are quick things to do to find more beauty in your life, so do something simple that makes you feel a little inspired about getting in gear and quieting your inner gremlins so that the distractions of your daily world won’t be the reason you can’t get started on what really matters.

Key #4: Set Your One Year GoalsSetting your one year goals and then keeping them top of mind This one step may make the biggest difference for you.  You can take some time to do this step in a very sacred way.  Perhaps light a candle  and spend a little time meditating and visualizing what you most want your transformed life to look like.  Really see a picture of yourself in your ideal day. See yourself having accomplished EXACTLY what you set out to do… See your life unfolding perfectly like a vision in front of your eyes; let your imagination be free to dream and play…see an ultimate picture of abundance and success without any censoring or doubt or “yeah but”.  Dream it up! (If you want to go deeper
with me in all of this, I have written a book, Step Up
and SHINE; Power and Presence in Action, that takes
you through a 7 Step process to line yourself up with
your highest visions for your life and business, and
gives you a plan to actually accomplish your goals!

Key #5: Creating a 90 Day PlanReady, Set, Go! Now we are ready for the practical;  you have your one year goal, so now you can figure out how to make it happen by chunking things down to 90 days.  (Then rinse and repeat).  The first thing is to break it down into doable chunks.  These are tasks that will fit into the overall strategy.  Your big one year goal is your vision of what you most want to accomplish, hopefully with an income/revenue focus.

For example, if you are in business for yourself, how can you focus your marketing efforts more directly toward being seen, heard and known?  List all of the ways first, and then start to cherry pick what you really like to do, and actually do it.  Another example; I love to go to yoga and pilates classes.  I actually teach these things!  I put myself in front of a lot of people this way.  It is important to let them know that I am also a coach and am looking for clients who would benefit from my work.  So part of my 90 day plan would look like “talking up” my VIP coaching program.  If I keep this top of mind, I will start to get some buzz around it, and get more discovery consultations on the calendar. What about you? What do you want for yourself this next year?  Make your 90 plan…

Key #6: Creating a 30 Day Action GuideGet out your calendar! Last December I did a Tarot reading for my next 30 days, and in it was a seeming paradox… I had extreme self care in the future position but “Ready, Set, Go” in the underlying position. This could read like getting in your car and gunning the engines while having the emergency brakes on, but I heeded the need to work with self care while creating my 30 day plan for January.  It worked… I was able to hold the energy of my highest vision, and carry it through in the work with clients. By slowing down and organizing my calendar, and not worrying about how much I was accomplishing, or not, the goal was met. Look at your calendar and put in everything you need to do “on” your plan, not just working “in” it.  Give yourself plenty of time for follow-up.

Key #7: Get Out of Your Own Way!Don’t let your gremlins rule… Here is where procrastination and overwhelm can settle in.  You have a goal, a plan, and some action steps that you have literally put on your calendar.   For Example; Eat healthy, buy only organic vegetables…drink 8 glasses of water every day, exercise at least 20 minutes a day…   Did you notice some “gremlin energy” sneaking in?  Oh, did I mention that they are subconscious?  Yes.  It’s true.  You aren’t even aware that they are there under the radar sabotaging every conscious effort you make. The best thing I can offer when this comes up, is to be gentle with yourself and acknowledge that there is something getting in your way.  First, do a body check-in.See where you are feeling it in your body. Then go back and think about your year long goal, and make a decision right here and right now, that you can and you will lovingly work through the fear (or whatever it is) and go ahead and do what you have set out to do anyway. “Fear is excitement without breath”.  Is it fear?  Is it lack of knowledge?  Get help, or take the baby step of figuring out what you are blocked with.  And then celebrate your little accomplishments!

Key #8: Take Some Time To CelebrateWhen it’s time to do the happy dance… Are you suddenly feeling discouraged, and like the whole thing is an uphill battle with too much work and not enough reward?  There are lots of ways we contribute to the healing of the world.  Raising children, being generous daughters and wives and sisters and friends.  Volunteering in your spiritual and local community.    Making a difference is what you are here for.  So what is the contribution that you want to make in the world?  Let’s celebrate all that you already are, right now. You are beautiful, you are worthy, and you are here to evolve.  You are a spiritual being having a physical experience (and maybe spiritual too!)  Everything you do is reaching into and beyond your comfort zone to help you grow and evolve.  Sometimes it is nice just to remember that everything is just fine; you are on your path, you are meant to be here, AND as you feel the true gratitude for all of it being just as it is now, well, that’s enough.  (sigh!)

Key # 9: Energy Management PracticesPracticing self care every day Do you have some practices that you do every morning, that keep you grounded and centered, and ready to dive into your work day?  I have a literal tool bag full of self care practices that I teach my  clients.  These are rituals that you can do in under 10 minutes a day, if your time is scarce.  But you can also take up to an hour for your own self care and mindset practices, and still accomplish everything on your to-do list. I truly believe that these inner practices are the only thing that will take you to the next level in your life, because they teach you how to hold the energy for your vision, your business, and your growth.   Life happens, the dog gets sick, the children need extra care…you are often the last priority and this is not good!  You need to be inspired and FED with your spiritual connection and wellness.  You have no choice but to take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually EVERY DAY! So, please take some time to do a breathing practice, a journaling practice, and some exercise/walking/ digging your fingers into the soil or your toes into the dew.  Get a massage once in a while, take time out to be with your honey all alone without iPhones…and every day envision the perfect  for your goals, It is a vision of you in connection with your highest self.  It is very esoteric, and very real.  Yes!

Key #10: Always Review Your Big VisionDon’t forget who you are! You are beautiful, you are worthy, you have a message and a mission to share with the world.  You are Divine.  You are precious.  And as Mary Oliver asked, “What are you planning to do with your one precious life?”   What are you planning to do for this precious life that you have been granted?  Is there a legacy you want to leave behind? What would people say about you now, if you were an invisible presence at your own memorial service?  What would you want to be remembered for?  Do that now.  Start now.  Be the woman  who brings others forward in inspiration and healing.  Be the teacher you are meant to be, the leader, the spiritual being of light that holds a beacon for others. It is time.  Your life and your destiny await you.   It is your actions and your presence that will make your work and life really come alive for you.  AND, you don’t have to do it alone.  A mentor is someone who can guide you, take you on a direct path toward your good, help you up when you stumble, help you recognize the gremlins when they show up…and get you through to the other side!

What we have talked about, in review:  Dealing with you stress, your time management, your space and environment, having a really juicy and valuable one year goal, a 90 Day Goal, a 30 Day Action Plan, how to “Get out of your own way”, remembering to celebrate all that you have and all that you are, learning some inner energy management rituals for self-care and holding a high success vibration, and reviewing your Vision so that you always remember who you are, your purpose, and your worth.   That’s It!  Now it’s time to implement these Keys in your life.
